Bribery trial: Supreme Court jury discharged

Helder Mendes Da Silva was facing one charge of bribery, relating to an alleged €20,000 cash bribe connected to works on the new comprehensive schools.

After the jury was selected, they were given a short adjournment to make arrangements with work or family. It was at that stage the juror was made aware of an indirect link to the man alleged to have been offered a bribe. 

The case is now expected to return to the next Case Management Hearing, where directions will be given and a new trial date considered.
