The Gibraltar Federation of Small Businesses & and the Chamber of Commerce have expressed concern at the new immigration rules.

Both groups have reached out to the Government for further clarification, following concerns raised by members.

The Chamber of Commerce says its received representations from a number of members seeking clarification on the policy.

As a result it reached out to the Government.

Chamber President John Isola said he is satisfied with the Government's response.

Meanwhile, The GFSB says the restrictions appear contrary to the broader message of growth that has underpinned Gibraltar’s post Brexit strategy, particularly the understood benefits relating to increased Gibraltar residency and talent attraction.

Owen Smith told GBC that he agreed a lot of people will want to come to Gibraltar once a treaty agreement is signed off.

However, he said the way the immigration rules have been changed isn't what the Federation expected.
