Inmates at Windmill Hill Prison have taken part in an education and personal development workshop aimed at supporting rehabilitation and improving future employment prospects.

The interactive session, ‘From Nothing to Something’, encouraged prisoners to reflect on the importance of education, resilience and personal responsibility, while highlighting opportunities to develop new skills and improve future employment prospects through the Skills and Work Reintegration Programme – already available at the prison.

The initiative developed from a partnership between the Ministry of Equality and Employment, the Royal Gibraltar Regiment and HMP Windmill Hill. The idea came from discussions between the Governor, the Equality Ministry’s Jolene Gomez and the Royal Gibraltar Regiment.

Minister Christian Santos said “Education has the power to change lives”, adding the initiative demonstrated the importance of positive role models in helping people recognise their potential and make positive choices.
