The treaty agreement for Gibraltar will allow for "enhanced" cross-border police cooperation - including in cases of "hot pursuit".
This is according to Minister of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Baroness Chapman, who was answering questions from former Brexit negotiator, Lord Frost.
Baroness Chapman said the provision "will be reciprocal, and will be governed by clear rules and procedures".
She also emphasised that the posting of UK military personnel in Gibraltar, and their families, "will not depend upon Schengen area entry clearance", adding that "as now, the UK will decide who will serve in Gibraltar".
Baroness Chapman said sovereignty and jurisdiction over Gibraltar's airport will remain unchanged - and that while there are agreements to facilitate commercial Gibraltar-EU flights, these do not affect military functions.
