With just over three months to go until treaty application, the Government and businesses are taking a closer look at the detail behind arrangements.

Minister for Business, Gemma Arias Vasquez, says the Government will continue to engage with the sector following the delay of the provisional application date to the 15th July.

Further meetings are being planned with the Spanish authorities and the Business Transition Advisory Group.

Business representatives are calling for more written guidance and clarity on customs arrangements.

The Business Minister says the Government will continue engagement over the coming months at a pace that reflects the revised table.

She points out businesses wanted more time and says this has now been achieved whilst also making sure the process was handled smoothly and responsibly.

Ms Arias Vasquez says she will shortly reconvene the Business Transition Advisory Group and will continue with sector by sector engagement as well as meetings with customs in Spain, so that everything that needs to be in place is in place by 15th July.

She says says her door remains open to the Chamber, GFSB and other representatives and assures the Government will share as much information as it can with the business community - adding its focus remains on making sure the treaty implementation is as smooth as possible.
