Following the signing of the Public Sector Pay and Industrial Relations Framework Agreement, the Gibraltar NASUWT says that its long-standing call to review the £50,000 pension cap will be considered in the upcoming pay negotiations.

In a statement, the teachers' union says that under the new framework, the Government has agreed to include consideration of a cap increase in the Terms of Reference for the 2026 to 2027 Public Sector Pay Award.

The Gibraltar NASUWT says it has long maintained that the current cap does not reflect the value and professional contributions of its members and the wider public service workforce.

The agreement was formally signed today by the Chief Secretary Glendon Martinez and NASUWT President Clive Barton.

The union welcomed today's agreement as a meaningful step towards fairer pensions, and reaffirmed its commitment to securing long-term financial security for its members.
