The Gibraltar Padel Association has officially become the newest member of the International Padel Federation. Its application was approved today at the FIP General Assembly in Mexico.
GPA President Ashley Perez told GBC it is “both an honour and a privilege” to represent the Association, and Gibraltar, at the 35th General Assembly.
He said today’s FIP recognition marks a historic occasion for Padel in Gibraltar, adding "We are overwhelmed, proud and grateful for the decision taken by the FIP General Assembly."
Mr Perez continued: "I would like to personally thank first and foremost past and present GPA Committee Members. Also this would have not been possible without the support from the Minister for Sports Leslie Bruzon and GSLA. In addition we would like to thank FIP President Luigi Carraro and the FIP Director of International Relations for their assistance in the application process."
Meanwhile, Minister Bruzon congratulated the Association, saying this would not have been possible without the Committee led by Ashley Perez and Gareth Jones.
He described the development as a momentous occasion for the sport locally.
