The Deputy Chief Minister has told the UK Conservatives that Gibraltar’s place in the British family of nations is “unshakeable and unbreakable”.
Joseph Garcia was addressing delegates at the Gibraltar Government reception at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester.
The historic relationship between Gibraltar and the UK was highlighted by the Deputy Chief Minister at the Conservative Party Conference.
Joseph Garcia said this partnership stretches back over 300 years, and is as solid and enduring as the Rock itself.
For her part, the Shadow Foreign Secretary, Dame Priti Patel, praised Gibraltar’s entrepreneurial spirit and its economy, and stressed her party's commitment to the Rock's British sovereignty.
Among those attending the Gibraltar Reception were members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as well as former UK Government ministers - with the Deputy Chief Minister thanking them for their support, saying the Rock knows it has friends in the Conservative Party.
The conference was also attended by two Gibraltarian students, Matvey Celecia and Haylee Pincho, after a selection process run by the Department of Education which saw them submit essays on their interest in politics.
