The Government says the European Council's announcement is a "very, very positive development", adding the new date 'gives both certainty and breathing space'.

It says the full and unanimous approval of the new arrangements by all 27 European Union Member States represents a decisive and important step forward in the process.

Number Six emphasises the assurance it's received that the new Entry-Exit System will not apply to any Gibraltar residents, regardless of what colour of civilian registration card they have.

The Chief Minister says the Government had been forced to work to ensure that Gibraltar would be ready legally, physically, and operationally for the 10th April EES deadline.

Jonathan Sacramento spoke to Fabian Picardo.

For his part, the Leader of the Opposition welcomed the confirmation of the shift of the provisional application date.

On social media, Keith Azopardi said the Government needs to use these extra three months wisely to clarify process and to better inform and prepare businesses and people for the future.
