​GSD 'not confident' of Wizz Air's return, says Damon Bossino

The GSD says Wizz Air's flight cancellations for August shouldn't be downplayed, and says it is concerned that there will be other airlines cancelling their flights because of a 'change of circumstances'.

Tourism spokesman Damon Bossino says the company openly admitted it will go where the demand is, and suggests Gibraltar's attraction as a jurisdiction was that it was a green lighted jurisdiction, rather than as a result of Minister VijayDaryanani's efforts.

He says the public should be reminded of the Minister's excitement in announcing the Wizz Air route in December, attributing the new route to his personal negotiating skills, and expressing the view that they would be long-term partners of Gibraltar.

Mr Bossino says it's clear the Government was caught by surprise as much as anyone, and asks where Mr Daryanani's negotiating skills were then.

He says the GSD hopes Wizz Air will continue to use Gibraltar, although it says it is not confident, given recent events.
