The GSD has responded to the Government, saying it has admitted a breach of an electoral promise on the Eastside project, and cannot get away from that.

It says at the last election, the Government said the development would not encroach beyond the northernmost point of the beach - but that it's now saying the marina arm "only extends minimally" beyond this.

Shadow Environment Minister, Giovanni Origo, says the Government's latest statement is nothing more than an attempt at creating confusion.

The GSD adds the Government also promised the rubble mountain would be gone in two years from the last election - adding with only two months left till that deadline, it's very clear it will not.
