The GSD has accused Hassans of missing the point by seeking to frame the Daniel Greenberg issue as some form of law firm jealousy.

It describes this as nothing but a self-serving, "smokescreen reply" designed to distract the public.

The Opposition highlights the findings of Sir Peter Openshaw's report - that the Chief Minister acted in a grossly improper way and had attempted to interfere in a live criminal investigation - adding that there were obvious inabilities to navigate conflicts of interest between the Chief Minister and Hassans.

It says any reasonable person would have therefore expected that the lawyer asked to draft the law should not have a long-standing professional relationship with the Government and Hassans, pointing out that there are hundreds of other lawyers who could have been appointed.

The GSD says the responses to the point it has made are an attempt to confuse the public on what is a very simple and basic issue - calling them smokescreens and diversionary tactics in overdrive.
