GSD says Heritage Survey photos highlight severe deterioration of historic sites

The GSD says photographs published alongside the announcement of a heritage survey highlight the extent to which historical sites have been left to deteriorate

The opposition welcomes the Government's Heritage Survey but says the assets deserve preservation out of respect for those who built and manned them, and for their potential contribution to Gibraltar's tourist offering, particularly in the context of the Treaty.

Shadow minister Damon Bossino called on the Minister for Heritage to update the public on the condition of the nine-point-two-inch gun at Europa Point, which he said remained exposed to the elements and in a state of disrepair.

Mr Bossino said the government appeared intent on leaving significant pieces of military heritage in poor condition despite what he called spin to the contrary.
