People on the housing waiting list are being asked to state their preference for rental homes or affordable housing.

The change to the housing allocation process was announced by Minister, Pat Orfila, in her Budget speech.

Letters are being sent this week to everyone on the waiting list and pre-list.

Forms can be handed in at a drop-off box at the Housing Department from 9am to 2pm on weekdays until the end of this month.

And as from today, new applicants will also be asked to fill out the new form and state their preference.

The Government says this will ensure housing lists remain accurate, and that homes are allocated more fairly and efficiently.
