St. Martin’s School has launched an “in-reach” programme that allows students from mainstream schools to take part in hydrotherapy sessions. Students are selected for these teacher-led sessions following an assessment and with parental consent.

The programme follows a four-day training course completed by 12 St. Martin’s School teachers, along with physiotherapists and care staff.

The course, delivered by the Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy, focused on safe, effective and engaging approaches to hydrotherapy.

Government says completing this recognised training gives the school greater autonomy and confidence in delivering similar programmes in the future.

The training was held at the GSLA accessible pool, as well as the St. Martin’s hydrotherapy pool and classrooms.

Number Six says St. Martin’s staff are making the most of the school’s unique in-house facility.

The hydrotherapy pool had been out of use for some time, with the government previously citing design issues to GBC.
