Increased number of fraud attempts locally but no data breach, says Trusted Novus Bank

Trusted Novus Bank says there have been an increased number of fraud attempts locally and is urging the public to act with caution if approached for information.

This follows GBC questions on a suspected data breach at the bank.

TNB said there has been no data breach.

In a statement this evening, the bank said it is completing additional security checks and reinforced protective measures, resulting in restricted access to its platform Netbank. It says this is a precautionary measure.

The bank reminds customers it will never ask for password, PINs, codes, or other sensitive security information by phone or email.

TNB says protecting its clients and their funds remains its highest priority.

And GBC has this evening received a response from the RGP on the matter following our questions.

It says any data breach relating to a local bank is a matter for the GRA, or the bank itself.

However, it confirms that it is currently investigating a number of reports over the past week relating to cyber-enabled fraud. The RGP says these investigations are all at an early stage, and it would be inappropriate to comment further.
