Following on from the decision by Junts, the Catalan pro-independence party, to withdraw its support from Spain’s governing coalition, the Gibraltar Government says this is not a matter for it to comment on.

Number Six says this is purely a matter of internal Spanish politics, while saying the consequences of that decision remain to be seen.

In response to GBC questions, the Government says it’s not anticipated that the UK–EU Treaty in respect of Gibraltar will require approval by the Spanish Parliament.

It says the agreement is not a mixed one and will only need approval by the EU institutions.
