Local teen cast as lead in Karate Kid musical

Gibraltarian teenager, Gino Ochello, has been cast as the lead role of Daniel Larusso in the new Karate Kid Musical which launches next month in London.

The Musical will tour the United Kingdom before moving to Toronto, Canada. Gino Ochello trained at ArtsEd Sixth Form and Karate Kid the Musical marks his professional stage debut.

The Karate Kid Musical has its lead and their Daniel Larusso is Gibraltar's very own Gino Ochello.

The 19 year old will front the musical as it tours the UK this spring and summer before moving to Canada in September.

The musical is based on the beloved 1984 movie The Karate Kid, starring Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso and Pat Morita as Mr Miyagi, which went on to become a box office success and spawned a franchise, still going 40 years on.

The musical premiered in the US back in 2022 and now its the turn of this side of the Atlanic.
