Minister Cortes attends Spanish Civil War themed book launch in La Linea

Minister John Cortes attended a historical memory event in La Linea this week, organised by the Casa de la Memoria de Jimena at the Palacio de Congresos.

The evening featured the launch of a new book on the impact of the Spanish Civil War in the region, alongside a new comic book series exploring themes of historical memory, including the story of a young woman persecuted by Franco's regime.

One author, whose grandfather worked in Gibraltar, thanked the people of Gibraltar for their support of neighbouring communities throughout history, a comment that drew extended applause.

Minister Cortes said the event reminded him of hardships spared to Gibraltar, and praised the Casa de la Memoria for preserving historical memory across the region.
