The owner of the Murga Bar at the Victoria Stadium says the Government’s statement that he is seeking £2 million in compensation is false - calling on Minister, Gemma Arias-Vasquez, to publicly explain the origin of the figure and clarify the intentions behind the Government’s approach.
In a statement, Allan Asquez criticises what he calls “ongoing misinformation and unwarranted personal attacks”.
He says his company VSB Limited was pushed into resorting to legal proceedings by what he calls “the Government’s use of its financial muscle” to deprive the company of its legal rights”.
Allan Asquez says he “extended [his] hand in good faith, hoping to avoid legal proceedings”, but that the Government has chosen to escalate rather than resolve the issue.
The company owner says, “This situation is not just about property, but the use and potential misuse of power, and the rights of all Gibraltarians to be treated equally and with respect”.
