Nine civilian staff join the Police Control Room today.
The newly-qualified team has just completed a six-week course covering common offences, safeguarding, de-escalation and active listening.
The new controllers will begin by shadowing experienced police officers before gradually taking over their duties in the coming weeks, freeing up police officers to work in other high demand areas.
The recently retired RGP Inspector running the training, Jon Lutkin, said the course had been intensive.
