Northern Defences gets unanimous green light at DPC meeting

The Northern Defences project received unanimous approval for full planning permission.

Plans include activity zones, nature trails, picnic areas and immersive exhibits. It was met with praise by the Development and Planning Commission members at Thursday's meeting.

The Environmental Safety Group’s Janet Howitt said it was worthy of congratulations, praising its sensitive approach and calling it a great asset for locals.

The designs were described by developers as seeking a balance between heritage and interpretation.

The DPC was also advised that access to the site will be controlled but will remain free for all residents.
