Police are warning people of a recent phone scam in which fraudsters are impersonating bank employees.
The aim is to trick victims into giving them access to their accounts.
The RGP say victims are being told there have been suspicious transactions and are being pressured to download remote-access software which then gives the fraudsters full control over their device and bank account.
The force is urging the public to hang up immediately on suspicious calls and to never share personal or banking details over the phone. Instead, they advise calling your bank directly using a verified number - not one provided by the caller.
Importantly, people are being warned never to download software, click on links, or follow any instructions from an unverified source.
Police say the scam relies heavily on panic and urgency, tactics commonly used to lower people's guard.
Anyone who thinks they have fallen victim to a scam should contact their bank and report it to the RGP.
