A police substation will be built by the frontier when the entry-exit fence comes down as part of the implementation of a treaty.
This was revealed by the Chief Minister in an in-depth, 90-minute interview on Viewpoint on Thursday night, in which he addressed security concerns.
Fabian Picardo said the police substation would be located north of the runway, “roughly where the bureau de change is now”, facing La Linea.
The Royal Gibraltar Police, Borders & Coastguards Agency and HM Customs will be permanently based in the area.
He told GBC: “Anyone who thinks Gibraltar is going to be less safe is wrong”.
