The public have been warned to be on the lookout for a scam targeting social media users in Gibraltar.

The police say people on apps including Facebook are having their accounts cloned by scammers.

The fraudsters then ask the victims' friends for passwords and personal details.

A Royal Gibraltar Police spokesperson advised people to wary of requests on social media which appear to be from friends or family, and which ask for personal details, passwords, or banking information.

The RGP advises anyone who may have fallen victim to the scam to report this on 200 72500 or police.gi.
