The Representation in Westminster Movement says any deal that distances Gibraltar from the UK towards greater connection with the EU is "totally unacceptable", and will be opposed vehemently.
In a statement, the group says even though Gibraltar voted to stay in the EU in the 2016 referendum, the UK majority, which includes Gibraltar, voted to leave the EU. It argues that any special deal which moves Gibraltar closer to the EU and away from the UK is fraught with danger for British Gibraltar.
The group says Gibraltar can make special administrative arrangements with Spain for the specific purpose of fluidity at the frontier, if it suits both sides - but advocates against asking to be a part of the EU.
The Representation in Westminster Movement says Gibraltar must go where Britain goes, adding sovereignty will be lost if the Rock moves away from Britain to rely on the European politicians, due to Spain's influence in Europe.
