Four suspended Royal Gibraltar Police officers and one former officer appeared at the Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with Misconduct in Public Office.

The accused are Police Sergeants Lionel Gomez, aged 34, and Daniel Fendley, 43, along with Police Constables Colin Tester, 28, and Christopher Catania, 36. Former Police Constable Antony Gaul, 51, is also charged.

Their case has been sent to the Supreme Court.

The charges follow an internal investigation by the RGP’s Professional Standards Department.

A statement from the force says the inquiry was triggered after a separate investigation uncovered a video from 2019, allegedly showing a member of the public being assaulted.

All four serving officers have been suspended from duty during the investigation, which began in November 2023.

They remain suspended and were today granted bail by the Lay Bench.

Their case has been adjourned until the 25th June.
