Runway temporarily opened to vehicles due to Devil's Tower Road demolition works

The runway was temporarily opened on Saturday morning to alleviate traffic on Winston Churchill Avenue. Demolition works in Devil's Tower Road resulted in cars building up in the area from around 10am.

With traffic at a standstill, the runway was opened to ease pressure in the area.

The runway was then closed once the traffic eased, however the RGP says it could reopen if there is another build up of vehicles.

The RGP told GBC works in Devil's Tower Road are expected to be completed by 6pm.

In answer to GBC questions, the Government said the works were originally planned for Sunday but there was a risk if anything unforeseen happened it would extend to Monday which would have been really chaotic.
