A twelve week old baby with medical issues is at the centre of a case at the Magistrates’ Court.
She was found with older brother in the early hours of the 23rd of August in the care of her parents who are accused of being drunk at the time.
The family was at a petrol station at the time.
The parents were arrested and later charged with being intoxicated in a public place whilst in charge of two children under 13.
At the Magistrates’ Court, the pair pleaded not guilty.
Bail conditions initially set ordered them not to be in a public place with their children between 9pm and 6am, unless supervised by one of the children’s grandparents or a social worker, however an exception was made for an upcoming medical appointment the baby has in the UK – as the mother explained they were travelling on an evening flight.
The court heard steps are being taken in regards to the safeguarding of the children. A social services assessment is scheduled in the next few days.
The case was adjourned until the end of the month. GBC has not named the defendants to protect the identity of the children.
