PE teachers from schools around the Rock attended a training seminar organized by Special Olympics Gibraltar in the Sunborn, which focused on inclusion.

The event came under the Special Olympics Global Coalition for Inclusion in Sport – a global organization which Gibraltar joined a year ago whose aim is to expand the reach and impact of inclusive education through sports.

The training was led by Jenni Häkkinen, from Special Olympics Europe Eurasia.  Throughout the day, she and the participating teachers explored practical methods of integrating inclusive sports in the curriculum, and extending opportunities for collaboration between school and SOG.

National Director, Annie Risso, highlighted the importance of bringing teachers onboard when implementing inclusion in the education system, while Minister for Equality, Christian Santos, said it was important to ensure opportunity starts early and is sustained through life.
