People without their own boat will, for the first time, be able to take part in this year’s Boat Procession as part of the National Celebrations.
Dolphin Adventure will provide places for members of the public who wish to take part but do not have access to a vessel of their own.
The Self-Determination for Gibraltar Group says tickets will be priced at £15, and are available at the bookshop at the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned, with all proceeds going to charity.
The event will take place on the 8th September at 7.30pm from Coaling Island.
The annual event includes the blessing of the sea and vessels, and serves as an act of remembrance for all those who have lost their lives at sea. The blessing will be given by the Bishop, Monsignor Charles Azzopardi.
Boat owners will follow in procession to the South Mole, where they will lay natural flowers; participants are encouraged to bring their Gibraltar flags.
The SDGG invites everyone in Gibraltar to join in, regardless of religious affiliation.
The event is being organised by the Rector of the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe along with Cultural Services, and also sees the assistance of the Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron, the Royal Gibraltar Police, the Gibraltar Defence Police, Customs, the Port, the Department of the Environment, the Cormorant Camber Boat Owners Club, and Dolphin Adventure.
