Firefighters from the Airport Fire and Rescue have completed training on areas including ladder maintenance, compliance, and leadership development.

Two firefighters learned about the inspection, servicing and maintenance of ladders: how to keep this essential equipment in optimal condition for emergency responses.

Meanwhile, three officers carried out a professionally certified internal auditor course; the AFRS says this will support ongoing reviews of procedures, including how to ensure best practice and identify areas for improvement.

And, two firefighters achieved an incident command qualification, delivered through a combination of theory and realistic operational scenarios.

The Minister with responsibility for Fire Services, Leslie Bruzon, said, “This training is a valuable investment in both firefighter safety and community protection. The newly qualified personnel will strengthen internal processes, enhance safety, reliability and operational efficiency. These achievements collectively reflect the AFRS’s operational effectiveness and its commitment to excellence and proactive safety management, benefiting both its personnel and the travelling public.”
