Two in hospital following partial wall collapse

Two construction workers have been taken to hospital, according to the police, after the partial collapse of a wall inside the exchange bureau opposite John Mackintosh Hall. 

Several emergency vehicles attended the incident.

Three fire engines carrying 12 officers attended the scene. The Fire & Rescue Service told GBC shutters at the entrance were forced open to allow officers to reach the two workers inside.

Building control have attended the scene and confirmed the building is structurally safe. 

The Building Control officer told GBC workers on site were demolishing a wall and did not start with the correct section, calling the collapse a possible case of substandard workmanship.

The Building Control engineer has assessed the building since the incident and is confident it is safe.
