The Supported Needs and Disability Office has provided training to Care Agency and education professionals on attachment and neurodiversity.

Attendees included social and care workers, psychologists, and foster and adoptive parents – as well as teachers, SENCOs, and staff from the Department of Education, Loreto Convent and Prior Park School.

The sessions aimed to revisit classic attachment theory and better understand the implications of trauma and neurodiversity on attachment. They also looked at strategies to support children and young people with attachment issues.

The Government says this training comes on the back of an information guide for parents on attachment and neurodiversity, published in November by the SNDO.
