Chief Minister confirms he met with former Spanish Foreign Minister, Josep Borrell, last August

In answer to GBC questions, the Chief Minister has confirmed he met with the then Spanish Foreign Minister, JosepBorrell, at the UEFA Champions League Final in Madrid last August.

It follows Spanish press reports that last week’s meeting with the current Foreign Minister, Arancha Gonzalez Laya, was not a first, and that Fabian Picardo had met Mr Borrell, although it hadn’t been made public.

Mr Picardo told our reporter Jonathan Scott that it was not an official meeting, nor was it a secret meeting as it took place in front of many others; he says he didn’t say anything at the time as there was nothing to report.
