CM vigorously defends Govt's record in first GBC interview on Principal Auditor's report

Fabian Picardo says he's the Chief Minister who has most welcomed public servants speaking out.

Asked whether he was creating an atmosphere of fear among civil servants who might criticise the Government, he said the evidence was that his Government supported whistle-blowing.

Mr Picardo interrupted his holiday to record a 50 minute Zoom interview with GBC which will air on Viewpoint tonight.

In his interview, he vigorously defends the decisions taken by his Government on how public money has been spent, in the light of the criticisms made in the Principal Auditor's report.

One of his reflections is that the Auditor levelled such criticisms without allowing the subjects enough time to reply.
