The trial of a police officer accused of attempted rape and sexual assault is underway at the Supreme Court.
Police Sergeant, Elliot Brooke, denies all charges.
Giving her evidence to the Supreme Court, the complainant, Miss X, described how she was on night shift with Elliot Brooke when the alleged asasult occurred.
She told the court that Mr Brooke sent other officers for coffee to the Holiday Inn, leaving her alone with him in the Command and Dispatch Room.
She told the court he began asking personal questions which made her feel uncomfortable, before he touched and kissed her without her consent, following her into the bathroom where she said he continued.
Under cross-examination, the Police Sergeant’s defence lawyer Gudrun Young KC suggested the whole encounter was mutual, claiming the complainant had ‘spun’ the events and was misrepresenting what happened. It was put to the complainant that she had been a willing participant and had been happy to be alone with Mr Brooke on various occasions.
At times breaking down in tears, Miss X rejected accusations, saying the alleged incidents were against her will and left her distressed and frightened.
The case continues.
