Cortes highlights 'importance of conservation' at OT Conference on Conservation & Sustainability

John Cortes has highlighted the importance of conservation in the small territories at the 7th Conference on Conservation and Sustainability in the Overseas Territories.

The Minister for the Environment and Climate Change told the online session that 94% of the UK's biodiversity is held in the OTs.

He was joined by the Environment CEO Stephen Warr.

Also taking part was the UK Minister for Nature, Mary Creagh, who stressed the progress also being and her Government's commitment to supporting the OTs, both in providing funding through the Darwin Plus initiative, and in developing the soon to be published Biodiversity Strategy.
