Direct Democracy: Chief Minister confident of UK concordat signing ahead of treaty

The Chief Minister says the UK EU treaty can't be signed without a concordat being agreed with the UK, but that he doesn’t expect this to be an issue.

In March, Fabian Picardo had said he hoped for the arrangement between Gibraltar and the UK to be agreed ahead of the signing.

Speaking on Direct Democracy today, Mr Picardo told Kelly Anne Borge that work towards the signing of the concordat was on schedule.

Kelly Anne Borge also brought up the Gibraltar Savings Bank, noting that the last Principal Auditor’s report highlighted tens of millions of pounds in loan notes being issued to companies linked to the national economic plan. 

She asked Mr Picardo whether savers had a right to know how their money is being used.
