EasyJet evening service to & from Gatwick cancelled

Wednesday evening’s EasyJet service from Gatwick, originally scheduled for 8.30, has been cancelled, as has the return flight.

The cancellations come after a “technical issue” with air traffic control grounded flights at UK airports.

Officials at Gibraltar Airport say the airline is advising passengers on both the incoming and outgoing flights to make alternative arrangements.

According to the airport, the two cancelled flights will not be rescheduled for Friday.

Disruption continues across major airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Edinburgh, with delays reported into the night.

And there was further disruption in the area with hour long queues reported at the frontier.

Six full lanes of traffic formed Wednesday evening and Kingsway was periodically closed over the last few hours to avoid a build up of congestion in the tunnel.

It’s not clear what the specific cause of the delays were, although GBC has received reports that the Spanish border controls have been particularly slow.
