Passengers braced for week of disruptions due to radar works

Commercial flights into and out of Gibraltar Airport could be affected by radar works over the next few days.

Essential planned maintenance will be carried out from tomorrow afternoon up to Thursday.

This could disrupt afternoon flights.

RAF Gibraltar has asked anyone flying into or out of Gibraltar in the afternoon Monday to Thursday to liaise with their airline.

An EasyJet spokesperson said:

"Due to radar maintenance now taking place at Gibraltar Airport between 12 -16 May, we have been required to reschedule one daily flight between Gibraltar and London Gatwick operating within the maintenance period on 12, 14, 15 and 16 May. All other flights to and from Gibraltar during this period are scheduled to operate as planned."

One EZ passenger, Erika Pozo, told GBC her flight was originally at 4pm UK time on Wednesday, scheduled to land in Gibraltar at 8pm, which suited her business trip. "However this has been changed to 5:30am on the same day!" She said the change is "a major disruption" and means she'll miss half of the conference she was in the UK for. "I will have to travel at midnight to get to Gatwick and wake up at 3:30am."

EasyJet stressed to GBC, the changes are outside their control:

“Customers have been notified and provided with information on their new flight times and on how to contact our team to discuss their options if they are no longer suitable. While this is outside of our control, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

GBC has put questions to British Airways.
