Failure of emergency backup power why lifts stopped working at Hassan Centenary Terraces

A generator fault was also behind problems at Hassan Centenary Terraces, which caused temporary lift failures.

Although the estate is equipped with a backup system to keep lifts operational during outages, the generator malfunctioned this time.

Government officials confirmed that, while the lifts stopped working, no reports were received of any cabins dropping floors.

The estate's door entry systems were also affected, but safety was not compromised. All doors can be opened manually from the inside, and the estate's management company responded to the situation.

At nearby Beach View Terraces, which is also fitted with standby generators, no issues were reported.

A reduced number of lifts continued operating as designed during the blackout.
