Fuel duty cut amid fears of wider cost of living impact

Duty on fuel has been halved from 28 pence to 14 pence a litre.

The Government says the move is designed to shield consumers and businesses from rising global costs.

As with the original rate, three pence per litre will continue to be directed to the Gibraltar Climate Fund, which supports environmental sustainability.

The change in legislation comes as governments elsewhere – including the UK - respond to the economic impact of the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo told Katy Docker ‘it is essential that we don’t bury our heads in the sand and believe that Gibraltar operates in a bubble’.

When asked about Gibraltar's security, the Chief Minister said that, in terms of this conflict, Gibraltar is as secure as the rest of Europe.
