GFRS reminds public to maintain fire safety throughout festive period

As we prepare for Christmas, the Fire and Rescue Service is reminding the public to maintain fire safety throughout the period.

Common causes of festive-related fires include leaving cooking unattended, leaving Christmas lights plugged in when they don't need to be, and if you're buying electronic items as gifts, make sure you buy from a reputable source that is of British and EU standard.

On Gibraltar Today, GFRS Station Officer Liam Byrne explained why the risk of fires increases around this time of year.
