GHA appoints new Director General

Dr Paul Bosio has been named Director General of the GHA, and will take up the post on the 1st of March.

He takes over from Lysandra Debono who has acted in the role since Kevin Mcgee stepped down for health reasons in October.

Dr Paul Bosio has spent the last 13 years working in the United Arab Emirates, serving as Chief Medical Officer, Group Medical Director and most recently as CEO at Corniche Hospital, a specialist health facility for women and children in Abu Dhabi.

Born and raised in Gibraltar, Dr Bosio graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1991 and then joined the UK NHS in 2000 after undertaking postgrad training in obstetrics and gynaecology.

In 2012 he made the move to the Middle East and now upon his return to the Rock he says he’s incredibly proud and honoured to join the GHA in this role.

Dr Bosio called the health authority 'a remarkable organization' and said he was looking forward to contributing to its continued progress and growth into a world-class healthcare provider.
