GHA surgical waiting times 'substantially reduced', says Government

Waiting times for surgical procedures at the GHA have been substantially reduced, according to the Government.

The Minister for Health and Care says the median waiting time for these procedures is down from 23 weeks 3 years ago, to nine weeks.

Gemma Arias-Vasquez believes the 14 week improvement 'reflects a focused effort to address one of the most significant pressures on the GHA.'

The progress, she says, comes after implementing targeted clinical and operational measures, improving coordination across surgical teams, and prioritsing patients most in need.
