The GSD has renewed its call for the creation of an independent health and care regulator for Gibraltar following concerns highlighted in the Ombudsman’s Annual Report.

The report outlines serious failings in a case involving patient care across multiple GHA services, including issues with treatment, record keeping and complaint handling.

Shadow Minister for Care, Atrish Sanchez, said an independent body would help raise standards, increase transparency and restore public confidence.

She added that this has been a longstanding GSD policy and would be a priority if elected to Government.

The GSD believes the regulator must be tailored to Gibraltar’s specific needs and be empowered to monitor, inspect and uphold standards across the health and care sector.
