A local man has been fined after his dog attacked a teenage girl when he tied it up outside a shop.

25 year old Jonathan Marrache pleaded guilty to not keeping his dog under proper control and causing annoyance.

The dog reportedly jumped up and bit the girl’s face as she tried to enter a shop at the south end of Main street, wounding her, in an incident that took place in February.

Marrache was fined 200 pounds and ordered to pay 500 pounds compensation to the girl, who was 14 at the time.

Speaking to GBC, the girl’s mother said that her daughter’s face and mental health were worth far more than 500 pounds, and that the teenager was still feeling the impact of the attack.

She went on to say her daughter, who had always been a dog lover, had required counselling and was now anxious when around dogs.
