Minister for Business, Gemma Arias-Vasquez, has chaired the first meeting of the new Business Transition Advisory Group. The group was set up by the Chief Minister to help the private sector prepare for changes arising from the implementation of the UK–EU Treaty.

The group brings together representatives from Gibraltar’s main business organisations and the Attorney General, Michael Llamas KC. Its aim is to ensure local businesses are supported through the transition and equipped to seize new opportunities created by the treaty.

The meeting focused on key transitional matters, including the proposed Transaction Tax. Minister Arias-Vasquez thanked the Attorney General for his detailed briefing and acknowledged his instrumental role in shaping and delivering the treaty framework.

The group will report to Cabinet by the end of November with recommendations to safeguard competitiveness and minimise any disruption to local enterprises.

Minister Arias-Vasquez said: “The treaty represents a turning point for Gibraltar. Our business community must be prepared not only to adapt, but to grow. I am committed to making sure they have the tools, knowledge and support they need. This group will help us shape a business-friendly transition and ensure Gibraltar remains an attractive place to operate.”
