A new Dementia Assessment Unit at Ocean Views is expected to open in the next six to 12 months.  It will be named after the late Daphne Alcantara who advocated for it over many years as Chairwomen of the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Society.

It was announced by the Minister for Health and Care, Gemma Arias Vasquez, at the opening of a Dementia Awareness Conference this morning.

The initiative has been devised by the Government, the GHA and Gads, and forms part of the National Dementia strategy.

We hear from Gads Chair Jeanette Ochello and the National Dementia Co-ordinator Karen Truman.
